Well, I have adopted the new version of blogger. What a hassle! For a while, it let me sign in with my old account just fine, but today I tried to sign in, as I was convicted by a certain Loftgirl to update you all on my life, and it forced me to create a google account. Most would say, "oh that's no big deal, it just takes a minute." And so I thought! I went to the page as directed, and read the sidebar that said "Enter the e-mail address you would like. (E-mail must already exist) Ok, I thought, I created a google account once before, I will see if I can figure out that address (since it must already exist). I tried a few combinations that I would likely choose. At each one, I got the same error message- account does not exist! Well duh, here I am trying to set it up! Of course it doesn't exist yet! So then I try putting in an existing e-mail address (completely unrelated to the google system). It finally came up with a new error message: Account already exists! At this point I was stumped. It wants an existing e-mail, but when I put one in, it didn't like it because it already existed. Go figure! So I went around the back way to the google accounts homepage and tried to sign in there with my plethora of sign-in options. Not a one worked, even my existing e-mail address. I tried clicking on the "forgot my username" button. It told me to enter my secondary e-mail address and it would send me a reminder. I tried both my main e-mail and my little used, much forgotton secondary e-mail. But, it was to no avail. I received e-mails to both accounts with a message saying that if I wanted to create a google account, I could go to google's homepage. Argh! I finally settled it after wrestling with the darn thing for about half an hour. What a hoopla! And all this so I could post!
Anyway, life is pretty good right now. Lots of things are going on- weddings and showers to plan, church upheaval, work. I am almost certified as a Financial Services Representative! I took a 17 page test as part of the certification process, and got a 98%! I guess I'm still doing ok after all these years out of school.
So that this isn't a completely useless post, let me pose a few questions that I will further clarify in my later postings. What is the definition of an effective church? Is it our job to decide if a church is effective or not? How do fellowship and discipleship rank compared to reaching people for Christ? I am quite interested in your opinion...

Effective Church. John Piper changed my thinking on this. I used to think the goal of the church was outreach/missions. I already know God, so my job now is the Great Commission (which is true in a sense).
But John P. says: no, the ultimate goal is worship of God. Even the goal of missions and outreach is to bring more people into the worship of God. So I think an effective church is one that is worshipping God according to his word and how he wants to be worshipped (that is a whole-nother can of worms tho...)
just a thought.
FSR, good job girl. Jared wants to be one but his bank won't let him train because they need him as a teller. Don't you love going to school for your job, hehe?
