"Rivering"

www.freefoto.com

I officially have a new hobby. It is unofficially called "Rivering." Bruce and I invented this delightful sport yesterday on a lazy Labor Day afternoon with Jenny and Oscar. We went to the banks of the Stillaguamish River (Yep, it's still a guamish! And we did say as much when we reached the river itself, as was called for by tradition. If you don't get it, it's ok.) I remarked that it wasn't moving very swiftly, (which incidently made for great rivering conditions) and Bruce replied that they don't call it the Stillaguamish for nothing. Har har.

We followed a wonderful windy trail through a woodland down to the river, where we scrambled down a sandy bank to reach the water itself. It was remarkably warm for any body of water in this neck of the woods, especially a moving body. Maybe I've spent too much time up in the mountains lately and have forgotton that not all water here is freshly melted from a glacier.

We waded all the way across, as it wasn't too deep, and had a marvelous time of it. The park we went to had lots of areas we had to leave unexplored due to a time constraint, but I plan to go back. Anyone care to join me?

Dude Lyd - do you have any adventures that don't include masive amounts of the outdoors?! All of your stories involve breathing fresh air. I want to hear about the nitty-gritty. JK. Actually I'm just jealous because I would like to be camping.

Heather- that's because now that I am working a normal work week, every time the weekend rolls around, I start saying, "Hey, who wants to go outside? Ooh, ooh, I do! Who wants to come with me? Where are we going to go? Can we go now?"

Aren't weekends & holidays great? I had labor day off for the first time in 5 years! Though I am ashamed that I don't go outside very often, still a bit scorching down here.
