The bigger picture

For all of you who don't know, I lost my sunglasses last week. Sure, it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I wear them when I drive anywhere! I'm actually rather dependant on them, even on cloudy days such as this one (cloud glare! it's real!)

Well, yesterday i decided that i needed a new pair, or my eyes would simply go blind, so i headed out to the dreaded store that carries such things by the bulk. i looked and looked, and would you believe that wally world would not have one pair of sunglasses that i even sort of liked? i contemplated settling for some not so cool ones, just to give my eyes a break, but decided against it in the end. well! this morning i walked out into my living room, and what do you think i see sitting right on the coffee table, mocking me? yup! my sunglasses! don't worry, they weren't there the whole time, but it was surprising nonetheless.

my point? it made me think about how sometimes we fail to see the bigger picture. when i was looking for new sunglasses, i was so frustrated that i couldn't find a pair i liked. that's so similar to the way we get frustrated when we don't get the things we want, only to find out later that God has a much better plan for us! I'm so glad i waited, because i could have spent $9.97 on a pair of glasses that i didn't really like. i hope this makes sense to all of you. it does to me. : )
